Boxer dog history1/16/2024 ![]() ![]() Blindness – The link between blindness and the White Boxer needs to be studied further, but there are more blind White Boxers than any other Boxers of different coat colors.Consult a vet to know what’s best for your beloved canine. Owners can use human sunscreen to protect their pets from the harmful sun, but dogs may end up licking the sunscreen off. Sunburn – It’s not advisable for White Boxers to be out in the sun for more than 30 minutes as UV rays can penetrate down to their skin. Many of these dogs suffer from skin rashes and irritation. ![]() Skin problems – Skin issues are common in White Boxers because of their short coats. This is due to the lack of pigment in the skin cells of their inner ear canal and consequently the loss of sensory hair cells. Deafness – Around 18% of White Boxers are deaf.Aside from the common health issues a Boxer breed experiences, White Boxers are prone to having these conditions: Are White Boxers healthy?Īs mentioned in the first paragraph the average lifespan of a White Boxer is 10 to 12 years. For instance, two parents with white blazes have a 25% chance of having a White Boxer offspring. Twenty to twenty-five percent of Boxers will be born white, so these dogs are not really a rare occurrence. Boxers can only be considered White Boxers if they have white markings covering more than ⅓ of their coats.Ĭontrary to popular belief, having a White Boxer does not involve elaborate breeding techniques. This dog’s moderately-shedding coat is short and shiny, and it stays close to the skin. Their tails are carried high and often docked. Most White Boxers have a muscular body with a broad, deep chest. Some White Boxers will also have cropped ears. Their ears are erect and sometimes naturally fold over. Their jaws have an underbite and their muzzle is blunt. Distinctly shaped heads and strong bodiesĪ distinct physical feature of a Boxer is its head. Considered a medium to large dog, as mentioned above a White Boxer can weigh 50 to 80 lbs (22 to 36kg) and reach up to 21 to 25 inches (53 to 66 cm) in height. Here’s a video of a White Boxer talking to its human because he doesn’t want to leave the dog park:Ī White Boxer shares the same features as regular Boxers, only their coat is white. White Boxers’ aggression lessened and they developed a friendlier, more people-oriented nature.īoxers are now well loved and are the 10th most popular dog breed according to the American Kennel Club (AKC), proving that these dogs’ dark, aggressive past is behind them. Boxers got the bad reputation of being a vicious breed because they were originally bred for hunting and dog fights.īut, as times changed, these dogs evolved as well. Are White Boxers aggressive?Īll dogs have the tendency to be aggressive when they are not trained properly. Some of these Boxers are cattle dogs or police dogs, while others are guide dogs for the blind. Many White Boxers are now bred to help humans do day-to-day activities. However, these activities became unpopular as years passed, so Boxers found new roles as working dogs. The Boxer breed we know today is from Germany and was originally bred for hunting and dog fights. However, their coat color makes them slightly different. As their name suggests, they are Boxer dogs that simply have white coats. A White Boxer is not a separate breed from the Boxer and is not an albino either. ![]()

Sydney Girls’ High School and Sydney Boys’ High School were built on the former site of the zoo in the 1920s. Sydney's first zoo was in Moore Park from 1879 until it moved to Taronga Park in 1916. The complex was also used for disinfection of clothing and furniture. The Destructor, an incinerator with a towering chimney, was added in 1901 and operated until 1937. Moore Park was also used for military exercises and parades, temporary circuses, a rifle range, a public dog pound, a tip, and a slaughterhouse. In the 1860s, the council dedicated land from Moore Park for cricket and later lacrosse, bowls and even polo. Cows grazed and horses exercised on the land. Diy mouth gag1/16/2024 ![]() ![]() I think that makes it cheap enough to buy even if you’re not sure if you’ll like it. It’s moderately priced for a metal-and-leather gag: currently it’s $51.99 on Roomfun, but the site owners have generously given an incredible 60% discount with the code Elia60. The o-ring gag from Roomfun is a high quality open mouth gag that looks and feels elegant and expensive. I found that the straps weren’t long enough to fasten over the top of my ears, but if I fastened them down at the base of my skull, it fits fine. It’s a standard buckle, not the loop kind that can fit a padlock. The buckle attaches and unhooks smoothly, so it’s very easy to fasten and unfasten. The tongue depressor is likewise very smooth, and it’s short enough to hold the tongue in place without being long enough to trigger a gag reflex (at least for me). Your teeth aren’t really contacting the metal at all. You don’t really have the range to move your jaw much once it’s in place, so there’s little danger of chipping a tooth or something. ![]() The ring fits nicely behind the teeth, and it’s smooth, so it won’t cut your mouth. That said, I tried the o-ring gag out enough to give it a fair review. I need to preface this by saying I really like gags, but I learned with this that o-ring gags are not for me. The attachment points at the edges of the straps and the buckle are all high quality. The o-ring gag I’m reviewing comes in a small, sleek black box that looks like it might be a glasses case if I didn’t know any better. It’s important to check consent all the time but especially during sex or kink play, and especially especially when one partner is gagged. When you’re playing with gags, it’s important that you have a silent safeword: this might be making any noise three times, or tapping your partner, or ringing a bell, etc. This hinders the gagged person’s ability to say “no” verbally. They are, however, delightful for those who enjoy certain types of sensation. Open-mouth gags, like the one I’m reviewing here, are not a great first gag for someone. If you’re considering playing with gags, I’d recommend starting with a ball gag or bit gag and see if you like the feeling. Gags can be very fun! The idea of being “forced” to remain quiet during play can bring a tantalizing thrill to any encounter. Sometimes the muzzle is fashioned to look like an animal head for pet play, but there are plain muzzle gags as well. Usually they include something to go in the mouth as well as a panel over it. Muzzle gags fit over the whole head with multiple straps.Similar to a ball gag, but smaller, the bit gag fits between the teeth and is usually made of silicone or rubber. Bit gags look like a bit from a horse’s bridle.Spider gags and o-ring gags (like the one in this review) are open mouth gags. Open-Mouth Gags keep the mouth open, usually in kink play for purposes of oral sex. ![]()

Rush drummer author1/15/2024 ![]() ![]() Winding gravel roads give way to deeply rutted muddy tracks and, in one case, no actual road at all when a sink-hole removes the actual pavement of the road and Neil and his biking wingman on that day have to edge their bikes gently around a very precarious drop. And it’s fair to say that when Neil does go off the paved highway he doesn’t do so by halves. Neil has a real taste for going off the beaten track, and during his long trip planning sessions he does extensive research to ensure he and his biking buddies get the most from each leg of their cross-country rides. Finally, at Chapter 10 they saddle up, and the whole book shifts to, for me, a more engaging and entertaining gear. That’s all fine and dandy, but I personally have a taste for some road stories. ![]() But all the same, he doesn’t actually get on the bike until Chapter 9! The first 8 chapters are used up with background information and meandering observations on the environment in general and the author’s in particular, with long sections talking of the little island he owns in a lake in Quebec, and how enjoys the peace and solitude there. I am aware that my illusion that this book would be all “rock ‘n roll and lock up your daughters” was mine and mine alone, and bearing in mind the members of his band Rush are all well established family men, there was always a chance that this may not be the walk on the wild side I was anticipating. What could possibly go wrong? Well, quite a lot, actually. So you can imagine my reaction when I saw the cover of this title A lonely desert road stretching to the horizon, a powerful motorbike and a drummer on his way to play a gig with one of the most successful and loudest rock bands around. I must repeat, it's not the book or the narrator alone, it's them in tandem.Ī slow burner, but worth sticking with.Īs a drummer myself, I am well aware of Neil Peart’s status as one of the most talented players around, respected by both fans and peers around the world. I don't think it has to do with the narrator, but more so the narrator and Peart's words, he uses alot of "big words" and has certain observations that, in tandem with the narrators voice, bring out those snobby and pretentious undertones, which in turn gave me a less than enjoyable listening experience. He still has an inviting tone, but it unintentionally feels pompous and snobby. Now with this audiobook there is a different narrator. Previously, Neil's book were read by Brian Sutherland who has a slightly higher pitched version of Neil's voice, but Brian's voice is still sombre and invites you in on the journey and he doesn't seem to force an attitude to the reader. Though that's where my issues with this audiobook lie. It really telling on why he doesn't want to tour anymore and not in a snobby way. Once again, great book by Neil Peart, even though these stories are on his personal website it still makes an interesting read/listen. Great Writing, Great Narrator, But Not In Tandem. Thoughtful and ever engaging, Far and Wide is an elegant scrapbook of people and places, music and laughter, from a fascinating road - and a remarkable life. From the scenic grandeur of the American West to a peaceful lake in Quebec's Laurentian Mountains to the mean streets of Midtown Los Angeles, each story is shared in an intimate narrative voice that has won the hearts of many listeners. This third volume in Peart's travel series shares all-new tales that transport the listener across North America and through memories of 50 years of playing drums. So if this was to be the last tour and the last great adventure, he decided it would have to be the best one, onstage and off. But for Neil Peart, each tour is more than just a string of concerts it's an opportunity to explore backroads near and far on his BMW motorcycle. For the band and their fans, R40 was a celebration and, perhaps, a farewell. In May 2015 the veteran Canadian rock trio Rush embarked on their 40th anniversary tour, R40. ![]()

Coal filter1/15/2024 ![]() ![]() The Egyptians appear to have been the first to use it in a medical way, to remove odors associated with infections. How did humans figure out that carbon can be effective at filtering contaminants? It is likely the earliest use was to remove impurities in smelted metal for the manufacture of bronze. The colorful history of using carbon filtration Most activated carbon is also treated with a chemical that enhances its ability to filter specific pollutants. A study in the Annals of Internal Medicine notes that a single gram of activated carbon can have hundreds of square meters of internal surface area. This creates many more places for molecules to become trapped and makes the carbon far more effective as a filter medium. First, it is injected with hot air, carbon dioxide, or steam, which creates a lattice of tiny pores in the carbon, vastly increasing its surface area. Each substance creates a slightly different kind of charcoal.Īctivated carbon is carbon that has undergone some additional processing to make it better at trapping gas molecules. Wood is commonly used to make charcoal, but coconut shells and coal are also used. The industrial process of making charcoal accomplishes it by heating a substance in a vacuum chamber, which releases all the volatile compounds and leaves behind all the carbon. The black char that remains is mostly carbon. Only the readily combustible material in the wood has burned away, either because of insufficient heat or poor supply of oxygen. ![]() Picture the charred piece of wood that is left over after a campfire.
